The first time we stayed at the Village Inn we thought it was charming, clean and it is in the beautiful town of Blowing Rock nc. There is a nice continental breakfast and wine and cheese served at 5 pm. They also have rooms that are set aside as rooms that will accommodate travelers with pets.

As mentioned above, our first experience was excellent. Our second experience was not. We had a room that could accommodate a pet. We found small amounts of hardened stool on the floor. The room was smaller than the one we had on our first visit. The small table was broken, not enough outlets to charge personal items, only mirror was a bathroom mirror, bathroom door would not stay open making it hard to cool off after a shower, and our room was not cleaned. When I went to the front desk, they told me that the maid tried to clean, but our puppy was loose and they won't enter a room with a loose dog. I can assure you that our 5lb puppy was crated when we left for the day and crated upon our arrival home. The girl at the desk behaved like I was not truthful about this.

    Exceptional

Excellent staff and service! Very nice ambiance! Centrally located for Blowing Rock.

This is minor, but it is good to know what is going on around your hotel: What restaurants are no longer in business, and how to get to another town which may only be a few miles and two towns away from the hotel's location.

The staff were excellent, it is a beautiful spot in a convenient location. The room was lovely and the king bed devine, the experience was fabulous and we will definitely book again.

    Superb

I loved the simplicity of the area. Really enjoyed the back patio with the creek that was my favorite. Everyone was very nice to us. Also the bathroom was much nicer than I expected.

The room, upgraded to a "king suite", was very small and crammed with too much furniture. No place to set anything down. No space for computer. Not enough electrical outlets. The outlets that were present were difficult to reach. Chuck the excess furniture, install a small desk and chair, add and relocate outlets. Small bathroom, again with little space to set anything down. The evening "wine and snacks" were a joke.

Very Friendly, like a B&B feeling, rooms very comfortable, clean. Private back porch with rocking chairs over looking stream and wooded area very relaxing. Can walk to town, great shopping and resturants for all tastes. Perfect mountain get-away - , also breakfact included, very nice, and wine & cheese from 5-6 Pm daily - a chance to meet other visitors and share info on the area.

nothing - wish we had stayed longer!

The room was very well appointed with hardwood floors and tile bathroom. The furnishings, to include the bed, were very comfortable. We loved the deck and hottub even though the weather was warm. The grounds were lovely and the brook behind our room was soothing and restful. The deck chairs were very comfortable as well. Oh, loved the "quiet" air conditioning unit!. Overall, a most pleasant experience and we will come again. Staff, Hayen, in particular, excellent service.

Just suggestions here - a mirror is needed in the bedroom (112), a full length would be great. There were two portable heaters but we could used a fan for the deck.

My room was comfortable with good linens, towels, bathroom, and furnishings.

The food and coffee were mediocre.

We found our stay to be relaxing and our room very comfortable. The location was very convenient. We were originally scheduled to stay at the Village Inn but ww moved to Hillwinds since we preferred a King bed. Worked out much better since there was some construction outside the Village Inn. Will consider staying at the Hillwinds next time we plan to stay in the area.

The only thing was we had a non-smoking room and the last night a smoker stayed next door and made it uncomfortable to relax sitting outside in the rocker. He came out to smoke quite often.

    Fabulous

Pet Friendly, Clean, back deck with lawn, breakfast, Attention to all the details, small and large, needed for the stay.

Due to the Holiday timing the price was too high for this type of lodging. Normal rates would have have more in line.

Location - walk to town; convenience of parking in front of the room; value for price.

    Superb

I loved the atmosphere around the cottages. The swings, the front porch, the garden, the birdbath, the arbors, all made for a nice touch.

    It was a bit pricey.
